The Graphic Design Process Part 5: Finalising The Project

Thumbs up to show graphic design work signed offThis was almost a one liner tagged on to the end of the previous post ‘send final version’, however on reflection this final stage is a valuable part of the process. Not just because it means the project is done and the invoice can be sent out, but because it’s a further opportunity to build on the client relationship. Once the final version of the work is approved, some clients will take it away and have it printed or use the logo on all sorts of company documentation. Our ongoing customer service includes acting as a liaison between our clients and their existing suppliers, or to source alternatives if requested. We’ve built up a list of trusted providers some local, some further afield. But we know their strengths and price points and can make recommendations knowing that the work will be of a high quality.

For logo design clients, we can provide a set of branding guidelines — a quick reference showing how the logo should be used and incorporated into other documents.  One idea for the future is to follow up each job with a quick survey just to ensure the client has been happy with the process and to assess any feedback to refine and improve what we do.

I hope this has been a helpful set of articles. It’s been useful to analyse the way we do things because missed opportunities, refinements or even confirmations often present themselves in these times of reflection.  Until next time… James
